Zebra GC420d Monochrome Desktop Direct Thermal Label Printer, 4 in/s Print Speed, 203 dpi Print Resolution, 4.09" Print Width, 110/240V AC

Product Description

The Zebra GC420d monochrome desktop direct thermal label printer has a 32-bit processor, prints 4" per second in black at 203 dpi, and can be used to print labels, tags, receipts, or other media up to 4.09" wide. Direct thermal printers use heat instead of ink and are typically smaller, quieter, faster, and more energy-efficient than dot-matrix printers. The GC420d is a standard level desktop printer that has a maximum print speed of 4" per second at 203 dpi (dots per inch) and can print labels up to 39" long. The 32-bit processor combined with 8 MB of SDRAM memory and 8 MB of flash memory offers faster first label printing with extensive media graphics storage. EPL2 and ZPL I/ZPL II programming languages are standard.

The printer's double-walled casing is made of ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), which helps resist impact. An open-access design facilitates media loading. Parallel, serial, and USB ports allow connectivity to a computer or other devices (cables sold separately). The auto-detectable power adapter can accept AC power between 110 and 240 volts. A reflective sensor allows the printer to identify the gaps, holes, notches, or black marks between labels to print the labels accurately. A transmissive sensor enables it to detect when a roll of media has run out. This printer is suitable for use with tag stock media, roll media, or fanfold media (all sold separately); the maximum outside diameter for rolls is 5".

Like it better than Dymo 4XL
By Steven E
We are trying to find a reasonable priced thermal printer. Compare to Dymo 4XL we bought and returned, this printer sounds and feel more solid. The loading of roll is so much easier. However, pixel quality of 203 is not as good as Dymo 4XL. I like this printer more than Dymo 4XL for the loading process and mechanical construction but printer quality wise, I would only give it a 4 stars because we can clearly see the pixel blocks in the text.

It works
By A. Grubsnalf
Needed this for Etsy labels. After updating my mac to use native software to work, this printer saves me a great deal of time. If you can run OS X 10.6 or greater AND you are comfortable formatting your printer settings, get it.

fast, amazing
By donald r wagner
Works on my Mac. I use Endicia for postage. The whole process of making up a new label takes about 20 seconds, with 1s of that being print time. Cool sound, too. Otherwise silent and at the ready. Rolls of labels are cheap on Amazon. And not nearly so ugly as some of the competitor's models.
